Campobello Island International Park

September 10, 2015

We were somewhat reluctant to try the trip to Campobello Island because it would mean that we would have to cross the border into New Brunswick, Canada.  We had our passports with us, but we noticed that they had expired in April.  We stopped at the border crossing and asked the U.S. officer if we would be able to make the crossing.  She told us that it would not be a problem so away we went.  Campobello Island was the summer home for FDR, both as a young boy and later as President.  It was here where he was stricken by polio.  It is a gorgeous spot and we were able to tour through the home.  We were so glad that we made the trip.

The ranger at Croix Island suggested that we visit the Quoddy Head Lighthouse so we drove by there to take some photos.  The lighthouse is painted red and white stripes and was a great photo op.
