The Adams National Historic Park was a very interesting stop. We saw the film at the Visitor Center and then boarded a trolley that took us first to the birthplaces of John Adams and John Quincy Adams. These two houses were located next to each other and are in their original sites. Now there are roads and buildings all around them, but back in the 1700’s farmland surrounded the homes. Our next stop was to Peacefield, the Adams home John and Abigail purchased after they returned from Europe. Both John and Abigail died at this home. Later generations lived in the home until it was given to the National Park Service. The furnishings are all original. Of special note is the library, which is in its own building. The Adams family, in particular John Quincy Adams, were voracious readers and read both fiction and nonfiction titles, in many different languages.
